Every guy wants to look amazing in formalwear & here are a few tips to stand out (in a goood way) wearing black tie formal  on Prom night! 


1. Go with a low stance – creating a longer, more lengthening (and thus more flattering) “V” shape.


2. Go for slim. Garments look dressier and sharper the slimmer they fit (within reason and without being “tight”). 


3. For a clean and minimal look, go with a hidden placket shirt with a point collar.


4. Leave the straight ties for the work. It’s a tux – go with a bowtie 


5. Keep your cufflinks simple, elegant, and a stick to silver, black and/or white palette. 


6. Tuxedos are minimal garments. Originally men wore these simple black & white outfits to let women in their gowns garner the deserved attention. With that said, tuxedo trousers should not have belt loops. Go with side-adjusters!


7. Back in the day the standard tuxedo was ventless. But that was back in the day. A double vented jacket is most flattering and looks most chic.

A star-studded crowd filled New York’s Lincoln Center for ‘An Evening With Ralph Lauren’ hosted by Oprah Winfrey—a lavish black-tie affair celebrating the designer’s career and benefiting his cancer foundation

Hollywood celebrities and fashion’s biggest stars headed to Lincoln Center in New York on Monday night for An Evening With Ralph Lauren hosted by media queen Oprah Winfrey. The black-tie event supported The Ralph Lauren Center for Cancer Care and Prevention and Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, while the glamorous guest list included Jessica Alba, Uma Thurman, Barbara Walters, designer Tory Burch and Jerry Seinfeld.  The black-tie event raised more than $7 million for the Ralph Lauren Center For Cancer Care and Prevention in Harlem and Lincoln Center For the Performing Arts. 

Designers showered Lauren with praise. “He inspires me in so many ways,” said Tory Burch, who staged her first official runway show in the Alice Tully Hall lobby in September. “It’s amazing to think what he’s done for our industry and for philanthropy. ”While Lauren’s has garnered a reputation as “classic” (a word  he deems somewhat “boring”) and quintessentially American, the designer himself embodies the American sensibility more than his clothes. 

Winfrey introduced Lauren, saying “He designed the fabric of America as we really all know it today, but we’re here tonight because Ralph Lauren is more than just a tastemaker — he’s a lifesaver," before asking him about how he's maintained and reinvented his brand over so many years: "You copy — that's why I am still here, Oprah," he quipped, drawing laughter. More seriously, he added: “I never went to fashion school, I never had the training. It came from inside. I know what it’s like to yearn for something and not have the money to buy it." He also admitted: "After doing this all this time, my hands still get sweaty before a show."

New Styling For 2012

Flow Formal Alliance released their new tuxedo rental line designed by Mike the “Situation” Sorrentino this summer. Flow is home to labels such as Calvin Klein, Joseph Abboud & Ralph Lauren. The popularity and distribution of the Avalon continues to grow.

Dante Zeller Tuxedo, My Fabulous Day retailer in New York & New Jersey, polled bridal stores at recent bridal market in NYC and the new style received rave reviews. "Many buyers commented that it would be a fabulous prom coat and also felt it would be a great choice for a fashion conscious bride & groom!" quoted Nick Pietroniero, owner of Dante Zeller.

FLOW Formal Alliance unveiled images from their Spring 2012 Ralph Lauren, Joseph Abboud & Calvin Klein tuxedo rental lines on Thursday to rave reviews.    

The My Fabulous Day team previewed the entire line in August at Formal Fashion Week which included exquisite, slim fitted and very energetic pieces. A lot of gorgeous patterns and bright colors was the focus of the line. While in Atlanta, we had the pleasure of chatting with Eric Weintraub, Vice President of Flow and gained a unique perspective on what it's like from inside a company with labels such as Ralph Lauren, Calvin & Abboud.  HIs enthusiasm for the industry and passion for life in general was so refreshing! "We are excited to offer our retailers the brands that we know will increase business and look forward to a very successful 2012 season!"

Moda is the Talk of the Town....

My Fabulous Day recently sat down with Gino Guarnieri, owner of Geno's Formal Affair, Lexington, KY.  He is certainly looked upon as a leading retailer & wholesaler in the formalwear industry for his "Out of the Box" approach to style & fashion and all things formal.  During our interview, he beamed as he talked about the new coat collection appropriately named Moda (fashion in Italian).  Moda is a partnership between himself, Jean Yves and available exclusively at My Fabulous Day Retailers from across the country.  "The style is something new, fresh, very fitted and offers today's trendy guy a fashion option when renting his tuxedo. Guys just do not want their father's tuxedo and we are listening" stated Guarnieri.

Maurice Silva, Vice President of Formal Wear International, manufacturer of the Moda Collection, shared with My Fabulous Day that he and Gino were having dinner and he listened as Gino casually described his idea for the perfect tuxedo.  "Guarnieri never asked me to make the coat directly but by the end of the conversation I felt I could deliver exactly the garment he wanted and proceeded to make the sample hoping to earn his business.  A few months later I sent him the coat and the rest is history" quoted Maurice.

The collection consist of 5 color options: Black, Charcoal Grey, Heather Grey, Sand, and Chocolate Brown and available at your local My Fabulous Day Retailer.

So far, the Fall 2011 season is filled with plenty of tuxedo styles for our beautiful men type but how about some love for the ladies??? This question is being put to the test at Fashion Week in NYC. 

Designer Ralph Lauren, went for the full look with a head-to-toe suit replete with a bowtie and sexy red peep-toe pumps, earrings and pout.   

Alexander Wang paired a sheer bib-front dress with detailed leather trousers; Prabal Gurung sent his sassy lady down the runway in a cummerbund and grosgrain-ribbon-adorned blouse.
